Review of Open Source translations
Abstract
While the review stage of translations has remained mainly overlooked in the past, this stage of the translation process is currently gaining more attention. In the specific case of the translation of open source software, the review stage is particularly important due to its specific characteristics, such as the voluntary nature of the translators' work and the deadlines required. Many open source projects are aware of this facts, and pay an special attention to the review of their translations. In order to streamline this task, there are some tools available that allow the reviewers to detect automatically many types of mistakes. petraREV is an open source tool able to work with both the usual formats used in the translation of open source software and of professional translation agencies.
