Protocol for the training of teachers' spoken communication for for vocal prevention: description of VirtuVox program
Abstract
The VirtuVox program is the outcome of the VirtuVox research project, conducted at the Speech and Language Therapy Department at University of Liège. With the aim of providing training and preventing voice problems in teachers and future teachers, we have developed a mixed-methods program that includes indirect and direct interventions. It is based on training teachers in oral communication skills in environmental and communicative situations that are close to their real-life teaching practice. In particular, it involves simulated communication in noise and immersion in a virtual classroom. This article provides a detailed description of the program to enable replication.
