«Viva il vino ch’è sincero»: hedonisme i fisicitat en la traducció de llibrets d’òpera italians
Abstract
One can see a strong Romantic and post-Romantic influence in translators of Italian opera librettos to the detriment of the peculiar features of the Stilnovist-Petrarchan literary tradition. This is particularly the case for Hedonistic suavitas and the physicality which is predominant both in the descriptive and narrative language as well as in the rhetorical imagery. It needs to be said, however, that the inherent modernisation in translations of old texts, by necessity involves making sacrifices in both terrains. What are the options available to us to respond to this phenomenon? Keywords
