Abstract

The paper presents what are the key differences between Eastern and Western philosophy, with particular emphasis on the experiential character of the first, which is what makes the Eastern thought to be particularly fruitful in philosophically analyzing cognitive sciences. Next, we analyze three key problems of current philosophy of mind —emotions and cognitive systems, the value of introspection and convert psychology in a transpersonal discipline— indicating how Eastern thought can help to the understanding of these issues.
