Abstract

“The pursuit of pleasurable work” is an ethnographic volume made up of 10 chapters (some republished) around what the author calls the “anthropology of crafts”. In particular, the author focuses on the current training curriculum of fine carpentry in one of the most prestigious and oldest schools in London, Building Crafts College. The book covers various topics related to skill, tacit knowledge, mechanical versus manual work, and utopias and aspirations of vocational and artisanal work.
