The ending of cathedral of Girona (Spain): Projects and phases of construction of the baroque facade (1680-1733)
Abstract
The construction of the facade of the cathedral of Girona signified the end of a long process of more than three centuries of renewal and substitution of the old Romanesque temple. The study that comes subsequently is a chronicle detailed of the process of building of the baroque facade —of the different projects, of the requirements, of the aesthetic options of the chapter, etc.— and of its peculiar financial engineering, at the same time that an intent of updating, by means of abundant unpublished documentation, of the data and existing interpretations.Keywords
