Abstract

The role of criticism and art journals was fundamental to the artistic development of the 20th Century. Christian Zervos creates with his magazine Cahiers d’Art the most prestigious and spreaded platform of the between wars art. In it is conformed the defi nitive imaginary museum of modern art and the late modernism theses are advanced. However, the vast and varied contents of Cahiers d’Art not known as deep as expected. Surprisingly, Cahiers d’Art has never been reprinted. Neither are well known writings of his director. According to articles and texts from their own booklets of the publication, is presented here the orientation of its criticism and some of the most prominent aspects of the magazine.
