Virtual exchanges in teacher training. State of the art and challenges for language teaching
Abstract
This article presents a background review of research that has taken as its object, from different approaches and methodologies, a novel educational practice: virtual exchanges in teacher training. This pedagogical practice requires a review of the specialized bibliography that takes into account this constitutive heterogeneity when presenting advances in the field. In this sense, this article is organized around three dimensions: first, it starts from general research on virtual exchanges; Second, it investigates what has been studied in the field of teacher training. And, finally, as a result of the bibliographic review, the aspects that make these intercultural collaborative projects a significant practice of linguistic reflection and metacognition for future language teachers are pointed out; as well as the vacant questions that constitute a promising starting point to think about the challenges in language education.
