Vilademàger’s Castle (La Llacuna, l’Anoia): archaeological survey of a medieval fortification (10th-15th centuries)

Abstract

The first results of an archaeological survey in spring 2017 at the Vilademàger castle are reported. Excavations at the northernmost part of the fortification made it possible to document and to date with some degree of precision the whole set of structures in this site which are linked to the first castle — documented back to the 10th century — and, moreover, to study its evolution throughout the Middle Ages up until the 15th century when it was abandoned.
