Micro-visualization of the residual biomass from Invasive Alien Species (IAS) as pulp material and its application in contemporary artistic-graphics
Abstract
This study reflects on the concious practice of graphic art by proposing the utilization of vegetal residue from exotic invasive species for decentralized paper production. The technical properties of this residue and its applicability in artistic printing are investigated. A theorethical practical approach has been employed to visualize the microscopic image potential. Three selected IAS were collected in the riverbank area of Umia River, Ribadumia, Pontevedra. Papers made from those species were tested with laser cutting, xilography and photoengraving printing. The visual and technical results provide an understanding of their physicalmechanical characteristics and suitability for creating artistic images.
