Abstract

The goal of this text is, on the one hand, to make evident the (masculine) body which constitutes the Universidad de Chile as a dispositive of knowledge, and, on the other, to make explicit the ways in which this very (masculine) body is subverted by other bodies which are none other than ‘political and literary’ configurations. In this sense, this article establishes the locus for alteration or for dissidence not so much in the shape of an ‘assertion’, but rather by a performed ‘scriptural operation’. In order to accomplish this goal, I shall focus mainly on the works “Bosquejo del origen y progresos del arte de escribir” by Andrés Bello (1827), “Castellano versus francés” by Amanda Labarca (1915) and “Sobre la necesidad de fundar un Departamento de Filosofía en (la Universidad de) Chile” by Patricio Marchant (1985). Those texts will allow me to explore the question about the body of the university conceived of as a regime of écriture.
