A Vegetal Opening For The Fantastic Ghost And The Deadly Metamorphosis: «Tlactocatzine del Jartín de Flandes» And «Letanía de la Orquídea» By Carlos Fuentes
Abstract
In this article, two short stories by Carlos Fuentes illustrate how the representation of vegetal nature by literary resources linked with the fantastic discourse build two types of tales. In other words, based on both texts, two models that exploit the semantic versatility of nature in different ways can be distinguished within the Fantastic Literature genre. To argue these claims, I dialogue with theories on the fantastic and various critical positions like those developed by David Roas, Neus Casas, Mabel Moraña, and Omar Nieto, among others.
