Anuario Lope de Vega. Texto, literatura, cultura is devoted to the dissemination of unpublished studies on the life and work of Lope de Vega, and on textual, literary, and cultural issues relating to literary production and theater in Spain or other countries in the 16th and 17th centuries, as far as the point of departure is Lope de Vega. Researchers interested in publishing a work must submit an electronic copy of the file (RTF, OpenDocument or Microsoft Word) through the journal's website (www.revistes.uab.cat/anuariolopedevega) after registering. This will allow authors to receive automatic updates on news related to the Anuario. Acceptance of articles is subject to compliance with the guidelines for the submission of originals, a favorable result in the double-blind review by prestigious scholars external to the Editorial Board, and final approval of the work by the Editorial Board. Special consideration will be given to the originality of the contribution.

Upon submission, authors will be required to specify the order of signature and the individual contribution of each person to the published work.

The maximum length for articles and notes is 85,000 and 35,000 characters, respectively, including spaces and the final bibliographic list. For reviews, the recommended length should not exceed 21,000 characters, including spaces.

Footnotes should be avoided as much as possible in reviews. They should be limited to those necessary to indicate essential bibliographic references, as follows:

Véase I. Arellano y C. Mata, Vida y obra de Lope de Vega, Homo Legens (Bibliotheca Homolegens, 63), Madrid, 2011.

Véase J. M. Rozas, «Lope de Vega y Felipe IV en el ciclo de senectute», en Estudios sobre Lope de Vega, Cátedra, Madrid, 1990, pp. 73-133.

Bibliographic references

1. The use of footnotes to declare bibliographic references should be avoided. They should be abbreviated in the body of the text and include: author's surname(s); year in brackets. If page numbers are indicated, they should be in brackets, after the year and separated by a colon without spaces. If the volume number is required, it should precede the page number.

Examples:

Arellano [1990], Arellano [1990:45-67], Arellano [1990:45-46, 77 y 89], Arellano [1995:I, 344].

If the quote is enclosed in parentheses, brackets will not be used.

Examples:

(así lo entiende Arellano 1999:203).

2. When the bibliographic reference concerns the original work, and not the critical contribution of its editor, it should be cited by author and title (and, if necessary, verse numbers or, if there are none, page numbers).

Example:

Lope de Vega, El acero de Madrid, vv. 325-328 (in the bibliographic list: Vega Carpio, Lope de, El acero de Madrid, ed. S. Arata, Castalia, Madrid, 2000).

If both the primary work and the editor's study are cited in the body of the aricle, the final bibliography will include a full entry for the author and an abbreviated entry for the editor.

Example:

Arata, Stefano [2000]: véase Vega Carpio, Lope de, El acero de Madrid.

Vega Carpio, Lope de, El acero de Madrid, ed. S. Arata, Castalia, Madrid, 2000.

If both the primary work and the editor's study are cited in the body of the work, the final bibliography will include a full entry for the author and another for the editor.

Example:

Arata, Stefano, ed., Lope de Vega, El acero de Madrid, Castalia, Madrid, 2000.

Vega Carpio, Lope de, El acero de Madrid, ed. S. Arata, Castalia, Madrid, 2000.

3. In the case of a citation from a daily newspaper, the body of the work will include the author's surname, the year of publication (followed by a letter if there are more articles by the same author in the same year), a colon, and the cited page, according to the following model:

(Ramírez Tomé 1935:4).

In the final bibliography the entry will be registered as follows:

Ramírez Tomé, Alfredo, «Una obligación inexcusable», ABC (10 de abril de 1935), pp. 3-5.

In the event that the article appears without an author's name, the body of the work will include the abbreviated title of the work, the year of publication (without separating it from the title with a comma), followed by a colon and the cited page, according to the following example:

(«El tricentenario de Lope de Vega» 1935:37).

In the final bibliography:

«El tricentenario de Lope de Vega y Acción Española. Conferencia del padre Cayuela, de la Compañía de Jesús», ABC (10 de abril de 1935), p. 37.

The entry is lemmatized starting with the letter "t", since the use of the "Anonymous" tag will be avoided and the article is not considered for lemmatization.

4. Electronic Resources

A) Links to web pages are indicated as follows. Whenever possible, the hyperlink will be included:

Véase http://prolope.uab.cat/. Consulta del 8 de febrero de 2011.

B) Articles in electronic journals are cited in the same way as those in print, but including DOI number in the final bibliography:

Greetham [2006:103-115].

If no page number is indicated in the source, the citation will be limited to the author and year of publication:

Muñoz Medrano [2002].

C) Electronic texts and databases are cited by their primary author, if applicable, or by their title, if not.

Examples:

Ferrer Valls, Diccionario biográfico de actores, s. v.

Véase CORDE, s. v.

D) References to the Bible:

Quotations taken from the Bible will be refered as follows:

(Apocalipsis, 2, 16).

The entries will be structured as follows:

• BOOKS

The information will be referenced in the following order:

1. Author(s) (Last names in small capitals, comma, full name. If there are multiple authors, the order of the first and last names will be reversed only for the first.), comma. In the case of the coordinator, editor, or director of the publication, the corresponding abbreviation, coord., ed., or dir., will be added after the comma.

10. The abbreviation "pp."

11. Number of the page(s).

12. Additional information: if needed, other information may be added here, such as the date of the first edition. In this case, the corresponding number should be indicated in superscript next to the year of the edition being used.

Examples:

N. B. In the event that the author of the cited text is different from the author of the volume in which it is included, the order of the elements will be as follows: Ussía, Alfonso, «Prólogo», en Pedro Muñoz Seca, La venganza de don Mendo, ed.

Capital Roman numerals are used to indicate the volume number used; lowercase Roman numerals are used to refer to the page number of book sections that use this type of numbering.

Example of a citation for a "classic" edition of Lope de Vega:

Vega Carpio, Lope de, Las cuentas del gran capitán, en Obras de Lope de Vega publicadas por la Real Academia Española, ed. M. Menéndez y Pelayo, 1900, vol. XI; reimp. Atlas (BAE, 215), Madrid, 1968, pp. 175-230.

• ARTICLES AND REVIEWS

A) In the references concerning articles, the information will be indicated in the following order:

1. Author(s) (Last names in small capitals, comma, full name), comma.

2. Title of the article, in Spanish quotation marks («»), comma.

3. Name of the publication, in italics.

4. Volume in Roman numerals (and, where applicable, serial number within the volume, in Arabic numerals, without an intervening comma) of the publication.

5. Date in parentheses, comma.

6. pp. followed by the initial and final page of the article.

Examples:

Torres, Isabel, «Interloping Lope de Vega: Transformation and Tomé de Burguillos», Bulletin of Spanish Studies, LXXXV 3 (2008), pp. 273-288.

B) Reviews referenced must be submitted in the following format:

Dixon, Victor, reseña a «Lope de Vega, La batalla del honor, ed. H. Ziomek, Athens, University of Georgia Press, 1972», Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, LIII (1976), pp. 68-71.

When the same scholar has two or more entries, they will be listed chronologically (from oldest to newest), and the author's surname and first name will be repeated in each entry. When a scholar has two or more entries with the same year, to avoid ambiguity, the lowercase letters of the alphabet will be used next to the date, in rounded letters: 1981a, 1981b, 1981c, etc.

Example:

S. Carandini, Bulzoni, Roma, 2000b, pp. 439-468.

In the case of more than one primary work by the same author, they are lemmatized by the author's surname, following the alphabetical order starting with the title of the work without taking into consideration the initial article, if there is any:

Vega Carpio, Lope de, El acero de Madrid, ed. S. Arata, Castalia, Madrid, 2000.

Vega Carpio, Lope de, La noche de San Juan, ed. A. Stoll, Reichenberger, Kassel, 1988.

If more editions of the same old work appear, they will be ordered chronologically, from oldest to most recent.

Vega Carpio, Lope de, Arte nuevo de hacer comedias, ed. E. García Santo-Tomás, Cátedra, Madrid, 2006.

Vega Carpio, Lope de, Arte nuevo de hacer comedias, ed. E. Rodríguez, Castalia, Madrid, 2011.

The abbreviation "VV. AA." should be avoided, as well as including acronyms instead of the full journal name. When there are more than one editor, and up to three editors, all of them should be referenced. If there are more than three, the first may be listed with abbreviated first name and surname, followed by et al. (in italics).

Example:

A. Blecua, I. Arellano, G. Serés, Iberoamericana-Vervuert, Madrid-Frankfurt am Main, 2009.

Articles in electronic journals are referenced in the same way as any other electronic publications - as follows (the start and end page numbers of the article are specified only if they appear explicitly in the electronic source):

Examples:

Typographic Norms

For quotations, Spanish quotation marks (« ») will be used. When a text is cited within another text, the quotation will be enclosed in general quotation marks (“ ”). If a third text included in the second quotation needs to be cited, it will be enclosed in single quotation marks (‘ ’). Quotation marks will also be used for emphasis ("Spanish-style" theater, for example). If a book title, which should be italicized, includes a phrase in another language or the title of another work, these will be enclosed in Spanish quotation marks.

Example:
Brisson, Luc y Pierre Chiron, eds., «Rhetorica Philosophans». Mélanges offerts à Michel Patillon, Vrin, París, 2010.

Quotations of more than four lines should be indented, without quotation marks, and in smaller font.

Subheadings or headings for each section should be in small capitals.

Example:
Lope reacciona

In Spanish, references to a specific century will also be in small capitals:

Example:
Esto pasa a comienzos del siglo xvii.

Likewise, whenever the name of a character is included in the text, small caps will be used:

Example:
«…o cuando se llama loca a Finea: “Finea ¿Murmuráis de mis cosas? / Otavio ¿Aquí estaba esta loca?”, vv. 1331-1332».

Ellipses should appear unspaced after the immediately preceding word. When ellipses indicate an editorial deletion, they should be indicated in brackets [...].

Example:

In Spanish, dashes for inserting parenthetical sentences will be long and separated by a space.

Example:

To avoid confusion,in case of an alternation between two words or letters, the symbol / should be used, leaving spaces.

Example:

As for verse numbers, no point will be used to determine the thousands.

Example:
La comedia está compuesta por 3148 versos.

Spanish Accentuation

Regarding accentuation, demonstrative particles and the adverb "solo" will be accented only when graphic accent is necessary to avoid ambiguity. See: http://lema.rae.es/dpd/,("Artículos temáticos" > "Acentuación" > "Acentuación gráfica u ortográfica: tilde").

Footnotes

The note reference within the text must be placed after a punctuation mark and, if possible, at the end of a sentence.

Page proofs

Once the two external reviewers have evaluated the article, their reports will be sent to the author, who will have the opportunity to make any necessary changes to address the reviewers' suggestions. This new version should be considered the final version, as only one proofreading will be carried out. Only those changes necessary to correct typos or errors will be allowed, but under no circumstances will they alter the typographical composition of the article.

Funding and acknowledgments

In the interest of promoting transparency and ethics in scientific research, we ask authors to clearly specify the funding sources that contributed to their work (funder's name and grant number). This information is essential for understanding potential biases and the adequacy of the resources used in the research.

We also ask that authors include acknowledgments to individuals, institutions, and organizations that provided support or made significant contributions to the study.
