Call for Submissions Vol. 13 Nº 1 Indian Music: Comparative Perspectives
Naturally, a comparative perspective can be applied from various methodological approaches to intracultural phenomena (in South Asia and in diasporic spaces or even in institutional representation anywhere in the world) so we invite proposals from a variety of areas that discuss Indian music from diverse disciplines. Descriptive studies, hermeneutic reflections and public policies that affect musical realities with effects on current transversal situations in our world today are highly relevant.
The following list of possible topics are suggestions as we are open to other ways of understanding the phenomenon of Indian music in the 21st century:
- Principles, modus operandi, results and repercussions of the transmission intra- and intercultural of music
- Genres, repertoires, musical instruments, types and practices
- Performative and creative spaces, audiences, mass media, new technologies
- Initiatives to promote the value, promotion and conservation of a musical heritage
- Deterritorialization, displacement, repatriation, the circularity of cultural objects and practices
- Globalization, multiculturalism, hybridity, fusion, dialogic perspectives
- Gender issues, power, prestige, conflict, violence, pacifism, marginalization
- Associations, individuals, life stories, agency, the canon, periphery, everyday life
- Creativity, improvisation, listening, memory, the body, cognitive sciences
- Music and cosmogony, religion, myth, ritual, therapy, disturbed states of awareness
- Musical traditions as spectacles and festivities
