Flaccilla and Galla: The beginning of a new dynasty

Authors

Abstract

Due to the unexpected defeat in Adrianople, the emperor Gratian was forced to search for a new augustus capable of handling the eastern provinces. The chosen one was Theodosius I, and few could have imagined then that he would leave a deep mark in History, which makes even more remarkable the scarce attention that his wives, Flaccilla and Galla, have received.
