A recent critical edition of Guido Terrena: “Confutatio errorum quorundam magistrorum”
Abstract
Marsilio of Padua published the Defensor Pacis in June 1324. Three years after its publication, Pope John XXII asked a group of theologians to draw up a report on some heretical theses concerning the papal power. The Confutatio errorum quorundam magistrorum of Guido Terrena was one of the responses to the pope’s request. The Confutatio, which was published for the first time in 2014 by a group led by Alexander Fidora, directly concerns the Dictio II of the Defensor Pacis. This paper analyzes this edition. Keywords
