Dante Gabriel Rossetti, els inicis de l'espiritisme i el Dante-medium
Resum
A partir d'un experiment d'esperitisme dut a terme als Estats Units el 1874 i centrat en les comunicacions ultraterrenes entre una dona morta i el seu amant viu, reanomenats "Beatriu" i "Dante", l'article tracta de la centralitat de la mediació prerrafaelita en l'apropiació de Dante per part del moviment espiritista del segle XIX. En particular, mostra com l'obra de Dante Gabriel Rossetti ha tingut, en aquest procés, un paper pioner, per mitjà de l'anàlisi d'un grapat d'obres que - als voltants del naixement de l'espiritisme modern- proposen una imatge de Dante com a mèdium. Més que absorbir passivament l'imaginari de l'espiritisme, Rossetti contribueix més aviat a plasmar-lo, donant vida no tant a un dantisme “espiritic” sinó a un veritable espiritisme “dantià”.
