Bolivian Lament With Little Green Dwarves. Liliana Colanzi And The Nostalgia Of The Alien

Abstract

This article is concerned with defining the poetics of Liliana Colanzi, who works at the intersection between different subcodes of non-mimetic fiction, participating in that “weird continuum” that Ramiro Sanchiz indicates as one of the hallmarks of the contemporary literary scene. Combining ecological concerns and cultural criticism, the Bolivian writer focuses on the indefinable mutations that affect the landscapes of regional diversity, creating very specific dystopian scenarios: suspended between the testimony of extinction and the poiesis of adaptation, proudly anomalous and resistant to any criteria of ordering, Colanzi's “zones” put in dialogue the liminal thinking of contemporaneity (Fisher, Haraway, Braidotti, Thacker, Morton...) with Latin American postcolonial tradition (heterogeneity, transculturation, hybridity, “tretas del débil”...), founding, in passing, an interesting 'neo-indigenist posthumanism', capable of strategically positioning, by rooting them in the minoritarian history of those locations, the abstractions of theory.
