The literary graphic novel: a didactic approach to Rulfo through learning by design
Abstract
The teaching of Spanish as a second language represents an educational discipline that allows students to engage in a cognitive and sociocultural learning process that goes beyond the traditional view of language acquisition. In this sense, the graphic novel is a resource with different modes of expression that can be used to explore literary themes and guide students to develop their multiliteracies. With this transdisciplinary approach, it is possible to approach the work Rulfo, una vida gráfica (2017) by Óscar Pantoja and Felipe Camargo and identify three concurrent discourses throughout the images and text: historiographical, which explains the context in which the works of Juan Rulfo arise; biographical, in which the stages in the author's life are represented; and literary, which represents passages from El llano en llamas (1953) and Pedro Páramo (1955).
