The language of love, seduction, and deceit in Women on the "Verge of a Nervous Breakdown". A didactic proposal for the ELE classroom.

Abstract

The present didactic proposal on Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, by the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, has as its main objective to bring the advanced learner of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE in the native language acronym) closer to the universe of the director from La Mancha. The didactic unit proposed will allow, on the one hand, to understand the different ways of showing love in men and women, as well as to identify and use different linguistic forms for the expression of love, seduction, and deception in Spanish. On the other hand, it will facilitate knowledge of the cultural uses of love relationships in Spain. In short, this work seeks to contribute to the development of linguistic and sociocultural competences in advanced ELE students.
