Animals: the latest victims of Colombian legal uncertainty
Abstract
Public shows with live animals have traditionally been controversial for the Colombian legal system. However, the thoughts of people and the authorities have for a while been shifting towards an understanding that a modern States must abandon any type of violent or unnatural practice that aims to entertain, as has occurred with the use of animals in circuses. However, the Tauromaquia has resisted this change, as well as the constitutional decisions in its favour. So, it remains to be seen how the contradictory decisions of the Court have “jeopardised” the protectionist future that in 2017 began to be envisaged for animals, so the absence of legal security in Colombia could revive this bloody practice.
