Case of the hanged greyhounds in Fuensalida, named Iniesta and Bola, 5 years old and 22 months old. Sentence 389/2013 of 15/10/2013, Criminal Court no. 1 of Toledo, Abbreviated proceedings no. 9/2012. Magistrate: The Honorable Carmelo Ordoñez Fernández
Abstract
The author, the attorney from the popular prosecution realized by the association BAAS Galgo [Greyhound], notes the most relevant aspects of the sentence derived from this proceeding, condemning a hunter for hanging two of his dogs. The sentence considers the acts as constituting the crime of animal abuse (article 337 of the Criminal Code). The author states that there are no grounds for exemption from criminal responsibility such as alleging ignorance that the committed acts constituted a crime, or that this is a custom with a history that goes back various centuries in a determined area of Spain to get rid of animals that no longer have any value for the hunt.Published
