Elements for a new political paradigm following the Covid-19 crisis. The ethics of care under debate
Abstract
The coronavirus crisis has brought human fragility to light in comprehensive terms, which has impacted a precarious labor and social structure. We therefore argue that the focus of reflection and of political and social proposals must be centered on the development of the ethics of care, communally and institutionally considered, in a way that develops a new centrality of respect for people, the environment, animal sentience, children, the disabled etc. Thus, we understand that this could come from a reconfiguration of the Welfare State starting with welfare rights. We hold that current uncertainty must lead us to fight for justice and democracy - assumptions for which the aforementioned elements are essential.
