Políticas del dolor: “Un buen tema para amateurs eminentes”
Resumen
Este artículo explora la relación entre la historia de las emociones y la dimensión política de la historia. Para ello, parte de un análisis de la historia de la expresión y represión emocional en los trabajos de Peter N. Stearns y William B. Reddy. En segundo lugar, intenta mostrar la necesidad de una política de emociones y, más en particular, de una política de dolor. Para ilustrar este punto, el artículo examina dos libros recientes, el primero sobre la historia de la crueldad, de Margaret Abbruzzo, y el segundo sobre historia de la construcción política del sufrimiento, por Keith Wailoo.
