Beyond Classroom Walls: High School Foreign Language Learning with Linguistic Landscape Activities

Resum

A més del seu ús generalitzat en diverses disciplines, la Lingüística del Paisatge (LP) ha cridat l'atenció dels investigadors en l'àmbit de l'educació pel seu paper en millorar l'aprenentatge de llengües i promoure la diversitat lingüística. No obstant això, la seva integració sistemàtica en contextos d'ensenyament de llengües, especialment en entorns de secundària, roman limitada. Aquest article pretén demostrar com es van dissenyar activitats centrades en la LP per a la seva integració en una aula d'anglès de 11è curs en una escola secundària pública al sud-est de Turquia. Durant un període de 12 setmanes amb 32 alumnes, es van implementar tres tasques orientades a la LP: Dissenyar un anunci de feina, Crear un disseny de samarreta i Elaborar un cartell de 'Es busca', totes alineades amb el currículum. Seguint les etapes indicades pel model pedagògic de Paisatges Lingüístics en l'Ensenyament i Aprenentatge de Segones Llengües (PLenEAL2), les activitats de LP es van integrar de manera sistemàtica. L'objectiu és proporcionar una il·lustració completa de la integració pas a pas de recursos de LP a les aules d'anglès de secundària, complementada amb mostres del treball dels alumnes per oferir una visió clara del procés. L'estudi conclou amb recomanacions i implicacions per als professionals de l'educació lingüística.

I am an English language teacher at a high school in southeastern Turkey. I have recently completed my M.A. thesis on the pedagogical incorporation of Linguistic Landscapes in high school contexts. My research interests are centered around linguistic landscapes, sociolinguistic awareness, and English as a lingua franca.
