The teaching of SFL to immigrants in the Official Schools of Languages of Andalusia: challenges and proposals
Abstract
The arrival in Spain of immigrants from different countries has been a challenge for the host society and, in particular, for the different Public Administrations, such as education, which have had to adapt to the profile of a very heterogeneous population. In this context, this article analyzes the role of the Official Language Schools in relation to the incorporation of immigrants into the host society. With this purpose, this paper describes, first of all, the legislative, structural and organizational framework of the Official Schools of Languages, with special attention to the area of Andalusia. Secondly, the profile and access of immigrant students is detailed; as well as, thirdly, teacher training in this institution. Fourthly, the educational challenges and proposals for the inclusion of these students in the Official Language Schools are reviewed.
