Problems and strategies in the teaching of Hispanic literature for Chinese students of ELE

Abstract

The main objectives of this article are to delimit the problems that exist in the teaching of Hispanic literature to Chinese ELE students and to reflect on the available strategies to improve the literary education in China. To achieve these two objectives, it is essential to go through the history and the present of ELE in Chinese universities, and then analyse the current situation of the teaching of literature and its role in ELE. It is a great challenge outstanding for young professors, both for what the elaboration of new textbooks involves, as well as methodological teaching proposals.
