Transmedia Actions Proposed From The Cinematographic Universe Of “The Conjuring”

Abstract

Currently, transmedia narratives disrupt the way in which audio-visual content is interpreted, enabling new forms of interaction and consumption. An example is the presence of expanded cinematographic universes, which have transformed the processes of film reception into communicational and creative matter. Within the fantastic, horror cinema is relevant by presenting a current and paradigmatic transmedia narrative: the cinematographic universe of The Conjuring, which proposes a series of strategies based on participatory culture and collective knowledge that enhance the transmedia experience. The article tries to detail the transmedia strategies of this universe that rethink the way in which film production is consumed and interacted with, enabling new experiences of participation and interpretation within horror cinema from different languages, media and supports.
